Man Running to Catch Metro Transit Bus in Uptown Hit, Hospitalized

A man was hospitalized after being hit by a Metro Transit bus Tuesday night in Uptown.

According to Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland, around 8 p.m. a southbound Route 17 bus was leaving the Uptown Transit Center on the 2800 block of Hennepin Avenue when the man running for the bus was hit by the rear wheels.

When police arrived, they found the man under the back of the bus. The man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The bus was removed from the scene, and the driver will undergo a drug and alcohol test, which is standard procedure, according to Siqveleand.

No additional details were released.
