The University of Minnesota men's hockey team locker room looked defeated after a 7-4 loss against Union College in the NCAA Frozen Four championships.

KSTP caught up with the players after the game in Philadelphia to get their reactions.

Goalie Adam Wilcox said both teams played well during the penalty kill, but the Gophers were ultimately unable to answer Union's last minute goals.

"They had a couple good bounces that went right to them and that was it," Wilcox said.

Defenseman Brady Skjei thought Union came to play Saturday night. The small school had never been to a national championship game before, compared to the Gopher's five national titles.

Minnesota lost for the seventh time in the title game. The Gophers were making their first appearance in the championship game since winning its second straight title in 2003.

"It hurts," Skjei said. "I thought we were prepared, we just didn't play our 'A' game."

For the five seniors on Minnesota, the loss may have been a little more painful. Forward Nate Condon said without the work of those players, the team would not look the same.

"I'm proud of our senior class," Condon said. "They've been great since they got here. I think they've been the backbone of really getting us to where we wanted to be."
