Hennepin County Medical Center was in lockdown Saturday, after a person reportedly claimed to have a gun, according to Minneapolis police.
Officers were called to the hospital in downtown Minneapolis around 11 a.m. after a visitor threatened another visitor and said they had a gun, police spokesman John Elder said.
A gun was never displayed, Elder said.
Police secured the exterior and interior of the hospital while they looked for a person with a gun. The search turned up nothing, Elder said.
The hospital reopened around 1:30 p.m.
MPD says this was a successful use of the coordination between the hospital and police during an emergency response plan.
