St. Louis Park students are mourning a local father and son who went missing near Mount Evans just west of Denver, Colo.
The school canceled after school events and practices Thursday, a day after the search for 51-year-old Damian McManus and 19-year-old Evan McManus of St. Louis Park was suspended.
According to family spokesperson Andrea Bouzrara, professionals believe they have done all they can in the search and don't believe that the father and son could have survived.
"Our hearts are with the family during this incredibly difficult time. We also understand that many students, staff and parents are grieving," said Superintendent Rob Metz. The school has counselors available for students and staff at the high school and across the entire district.
According to posts on Twitter and Facebook, members of the community were planning to wear orange, St. Louis Park's high school color, to support the McManus family.
Damian McManus' wife Katherine and Evan's twin sister Lauren went to Colorado, but were unable to assist in the search due to dangerous conditions.
Lauren sent out a tweet Thursday, vowing to return to the mountains.
I promise to return, to finish what you started. Love & miss you, forever & always. ?? @ Mt. Evans http://t.co/Yx86QxiKLf— Lauren Mac (@LoloMac_) April 10, 2014
The father and son were last heard from on April 2.
A fund for the family has been set up at the Citizens Independent Bank in St. Louis Park.
