The Hennepin County Health Department is investigating an outbreak of norovirus at Chuck E. Cheese's in Maple Grove.
More than a dozen customers came down with norovirus after eating at the restaurant Saturday, according to Bill Billknap with the Hennepin County Health Department. At this point, no one has been hospitalized.
Billknap says norovirus can be spread very quickly and symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting. He says someone can spread norovirus when they're not showing any symptoms.
After the health department received reports of the outbreak, health officials contacted customers through receipt records. Officials determined there were no food handling issues and the restaurant did not need to close.
The restaurant was asked to wash down surfaces and items with a high-concentration bleach solution.
Billknap tells KSTP this is another example of how important it is to wash your hands before you eat or touch your mouth.
Anyone who ate at the restaurant over the weekend and believes they came down with norovirus is asked to contact the health department at 612-543-5230.
