A 19-year-old who shocked a courtroom last week by pleading guilty to murdering a Willmar grandmother has been sentenced to life without parole.

Last week, the jury watched Brok Junkermeier's taped confession to killing 79-year-old Lila Warwick after forcing her to write him a check for $1,500 last July near Willmar. Junkermeier admitted to the crime and wanted to plead guilty to keep "the families from having to listen to more of the evidence."
While Junkermeier was on trial for carrying out the murder, Warwick's grandson, Robert, is accused of being the mastermind; his trial date isn't set.

Junkermeier pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder.

The Attorney General’s Office tells KSTP there isn’t a lot of “wiggle room” when it comes to the sentencing in this type of case, so Junkermeier was sentenced according to the state guidelines.
