A source tells KSTP's Darren Wolfson that the Timberwolves will sign shooting guard/small forward Othyus Jeffers for the final six games. He was in training camp with the team when the season began.

Jeffers has spent the season in the D-League, playing for Iowa. He didn't travel with the team last night for their first playoff game. Instead, he made his way to the Twin Cities.

The Wolves are seeking depth after wings Chase Budinger (ankle) and Shabazz Muhammad (knee) are expected to miss the rest of the season. In addition, shooting guard Kevin Martin (thumb) is likely to miss at least another game or two.

The Wolves won't make the playoffs, but will play teams the rest of the way that will -- San Antonio, Chicago, Golden State, and Houston. Those teams are jockeying for position for playoff seeds, and the Wolves feel it's in their best interest to field the best team possible. Competitive balance is a big deal to them.

Jeffers is expected in uniform for Tuesday night's home game against San Antonio.
