Despite the latest storm, the weekend ahead looks quiet with sunshine expected to return along with temperatures in the 40s.

The sky will clear, and the winds will subside late Friday night, Morning Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow says. As many people were out shoveling Friday, the meltdown of the several inches of snow that fell overnight got underway, leading to slush and puddles.

Winds will begin to pick up, and there will likely be some blowing and drifting - especially in Greater Minnesota; wind gusts of 40 mph could make travel difficult in open areas throughout the day. A winter storm warning continues for portions of northern Wisconsin.

The cities of Crystal and Bloomington have issued snow emergencies, and St. Louis Park enacted winter parking ban rules.

The snow will continue to melt Saturday and Sunday, along with all of next week as a warming trend heads our way. Temperatures in the low 60s are on the horizon by next Thursday, Ken says.
