No Injuries Reported in 2 Separate House Fires

Two houses were destroyed after two separate early-morning fires.

A family of three was able to escape an early-morning house fire in Woodbury. The fire happened around 1 a.m. on the 10000 block of Powers Lake Trail.

Neighbors say they heard a loud explosion and then noticed the fire. Officials say the house is a total loss, but no injuries were reported.

The Cottage Grove Fire Department assisted Woodbury, and the cause is still under investigation.

Officials believe it started as an electrical problem in the garage.

A house in Dinkytown is also a total loss after an overnight fire.

The fire started just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday on the 800 block of 13th Avenue Southeast in Minneapolis. A college student living in the house escaped without injuries, and her two roommates weren’t home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters say the house is a total loss, and the fire spread to the adjacent house and caused minor damage there.

The cause is also under investigation.
