Tyus Jones has added another award to his collection.
The Duke-bound point guard from Apple Valley won the 2014 McDonald’s All American Games skills competition in Chicago Monday night.
Jones dribbled, passed and shot his way through a set obstacle course in 28.1 seconds during the final round of boys’ competition, according to the event's official Twitter account.
Monday’s skills, three-point and slam dunk contests lead up to Wednesday’s main event, the McDonald’s All American Game, which features two other Minnesotans: DeLaSalle’s Reid Travis and former Findlay Prep star Rashad Vaughn. Vaughn played for Robbinsdale-Cooper before transferring to Findlay Prep near Las Vegas.
Travis did not take part in Monday’s events. Vaughn failed to advance to the three-point shootout finals.
Jones’ future Duke teammate Grayson Allen took the slam dunk title.
The McDonald’s All American Game tips off in Chicago Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m.
