A man who died after breaking through thin ice in Burnsville has been identified as 43-year-old Brett Alan Stroud.

Burnsville firefighters rescued Stroud on Monday after he fell through the ice at Sunset Pond Park near County Road 42 and Burnsville Parkway. He died late Tuesday, according to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.

Dakota County Chief Deputy Tim Leslie says the incident is a reminder that residents should no longer walk or drive on the ice this spring.
