The Anoka-Hennepin School District and teachers have approved a tentative agreement on a new contract. The agreement was accepted by teachers with 84.6 percent approval, according to Education Minnesota.
Anoka Hennepin Education Minnesota (AHEM) and the district had clashed on long-term health insurance costs and a proposed salary schedule change.
Earlier this month, the district agreed to drop the addition of another step to the salary schedule, and the union agreed to the cap on insurance with the understanding that the district would pay the full cost of single-coverage insurance this year and next for the lower cost of two managed-care plans offered.
The agreement will now go to the board on April 28 for a final vote.
The Bureau of Mediation Services has been overseeing the talks.
