Alejandro De Aza hit two home runs and Chris Sale worked into the seventh inning as the Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota 5-3 on Opening Day. Twins starter Ricky Nolasco gave up five runs on 10 hits in six innings of work in the loss.
Chicago opened the scoring with De Aza's 2-run homer in the second inning. The Twins tied the game with a Kurt Zuzuki two-out, two-run single in the third. He would add a third RBI in the eighth inning.
Chris Colabello went 2 for 4 and Aaron Hicks went 2 for 3 for the Twins.
Minnesota and Chicago will play again Wednesday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field. Kevin Correia of the Twins is expected to face Felipe Paulino of the White Sox.
