If hopping on a hog is the thing you do when spring comes around, the St. Paul RiverCentre is the place to be this weekend.

The 27th annual Dennis Kirk Donnie Smith Bike and Car Show - the largest custom bike show in the Midwest - drew more than 17,000 bikers to the convention.

Motorcycle riders checked out all the latest and greatest rides on two wheels. For many of them, it was a good time to go through the checklist of what they need to do to get their bikes ready for the road.

According to motorcycle service expert, Rob Hazelton, owner of American Thunder Service Shop, there are a few steps to do before you hit the road.

1. Change your oil, and check fluid levels

2. Check your battery

3. Fill up your tires with the right amount of air

"If you don't check your tires, you go out, tire could roll over, get a flat, wreck the bike and possibly hurt yourself," said Hazelton.

Now that most of the snow is gone, many of these riders worry about the residual sand and salt left on the road. But they say after a couple days of rain, it'll be smooth riding.

The bike and car show runs until Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
