A 25-year-old man was arrested after an armed robbery at Sam's Club in Bloomington and for attempting to carjack several vehicles as he tried to get away, according to police.
According to Bloomington Police, Michael David Henderson is being charged with attempted second degree homicide, first degree robbery and second degree assault.
Bloomington Police Deputy Chief Vic Poyer tells KSTP it all started around 9 p.m. Tuesday when police were called to the store, located on the 200 block of East American Boulevard, for the armed robbery.
Henderson apparently had on a traffic vest and carried a large bag into the store, so it appeared he worked there, according to police.
Police say as Henderson left the store, employees asked to check his bag and he pulled out a handgun. Employees say they heard the trigger click several times before he left.
When police arrived they saw Henderson running down Interstate 494 toward the city of Richfield.
Police say Henderson tried to carjack several vehicles on the way. The vehicles were backed up in traffic on the freeway as he tried to carjack them.
Henderson was arrested a short time later. Police recovered cash taken from the store and a gun.
No injuries were reported.
