Lindsey Theuninck made a pair of free throws with .4 seconds remaining in overtime to carry Mankato Loyola past second-seeded Maranatha Christian Academy 93-91 Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Girls' State Basketball Tournament. The teams combined to score 184 points, a new state record.
Mankato Loyola was down by four points with 21 seconds remaining in regulation when Theuninck hit a jumper and then fellow freshman RaeAnn Dose scored in the paint to tie the game at 81 with two seconds left.
Loyola outscored Maranatha 12-10 in the extra session to advance to the Class A semifinals against Win-E-Mac on Friday at Williams Arena.
Theuninck finished with a game-high 37 points to lead Loyola.
Four players finished in double figures for Maranatha.
