Kenyon-Wanamingo used stingy defense and solid shooting to rout Redwood Valley 64-31 Wednesday night in the Girls' State Basketball Tournament quarterfinals. Redwood's struggle to shoot the ball early on helped Kenyon-Wanamingo build a 15-3 lead.
The Cardinals went without a field goal in the first six minutes of the game, and only made two field goals in nearly 13 minutes.
Kenyon-Wanamingo on the other hand shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to lead 39-12 at halftime.
Redwood picked up the shooting in the second half, but only shot the ball 12 times.
Senior forward Siri Sviggum led the Knights with 23 points and six rebounds. She finished 9 of 11 from the field and made three three-pointers.
The Cardinals were led by senior guard Tara Sandgren with 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting.
Kenyon-Wanamingo will play Esko in the semifinals on Friday at Williams Arena.
