Marshall scored 25 points off turnovers and held Chisago Lakes to under 30 percent shooting Wednesday to win its Class 3A quarterfinal in the Girls' State Basketball Tournament. The Tigers had three players in double figures, led by senior forward Hannah Bennett's 13 points, to win 68-44 at Mariucci Arena.
Marshall was able to hold Chisago Lakes to 29.5 percent shooting - just 13 for 44 from the field - while making 40 percent of its own shots. The bigger difference was the turnovers however - Chisago Lakes turned it over 25 times compared to Marshall's 11.
The Tigers had five players score at least eight points. Senior forward Kenzie Beekman had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists to support Bennett.
Chisago Lakes was led by senior center Bryanna Fernstrom's 24 points, 18 rebounds and four blocked shots. She finished 7 of 18 from the floor and recorded six offensive rebounds while getting to the foul line 14 times.
No one else made more than two shots in the game for Chisago Lakes to help her though.
Marshall (28-2) will face Fergus Falls (29-1) in the Class 3A Semifinals on
Thursday at Williams Arena.
