The top-seeded Lightning of Eastview found a formidable opponent in the unseeded Minutemen of St. Paul Central. In a game that saw the score tied 10 times and the lead swapped seven times, Eastview had two players carry the team on their backs.
Junior Madison Guebert, who averaged nearly 22 points per game prior to the state tournament, had a game- and team-high 29 points. Senior Kari Opatz, who averaged 15 points per game, added 26 points. Between the two, they accounted for 55 of the Lightning’s 63 points. Junior Hana Metoxen and senior Emee Udo each contributed four points for Eastview.
Guebert shot 7 for 14, including 4 for 8 from three-point range. Opatz shot 9 for 13, including 3 for 6 from three-point range.
St. Paul Central ends its season at 24-6 and was led by senior Rayna Sherow with 16 points and junior Chelcie Kizart with 14.
