Andriy Karkos tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, "President Putin is a fascist dictator who wants control of Crimea to spread his imperialist dictatorship."

The father of Andriy Karkos was accused last year of being a Nazi during World War II. Andriy fiercely denies the assertion and says, "My father was fighting the same Russian aggression that Ukraine faces today with the illegal, unconstitutional takeover of Crimea."

Crimea is a peninsula region of Ukraine.

Karkos says the vote by Crimea citizens to split from Ukraine "was a sham perpetrated by Russian President Putin at the end of a gun barrel."

"Putin has no military rationale, no political rationale and no economic rationale for taking over Crimea," Karkos said. He adds Putin simply wants to expand his power for the sake of power.

Karkos says everyone in the world needs to pay attention to Putin's aggression, because "if he is willing to put troops in Crimea and force an illegal vote to take over the region, who's to say he would not do the same to other neighboring Russian countries who are peaceful?"
