Boston scored twice in the fifth inning to rally past the Minnesota Twins 4-3 Thursday. Minnesota committed three errors in the game, allowing all four runs to be unearned.

Starter Phil Hughes did the best he could to limit the damage after his defense let him down twice in the third inning. Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe failed to glove Xander Bogaerts' leadoff grounder in what became a 37-pitch frame for Hughes. Bogaerts scored one out later when first baseman Joe Mauer dropped a pickoff throw.

Shane Victorino, appearing in just his second game of the spring due to nagging injuries, drove in the other unearned run that inning with a line single to center.

Victorino also had a bunt single and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth, when shortstop Danny Santana's fielding error led to a two-out rally.

Offensively, Chris Herrmann had two hits in two at-bats for the Twins, who have now lost three games in a row.

The Twins will play two split-squad games Friday against the Orioles and Yankees.
