The FBI out of Milwaukee confirms they executed a search warrant of a laboratory near the Twin Cities on Wednesday. Officials stopped short Wednesday of telling KSTP why they were there.
There were signs of the raid just outside the NeuroScience campus as Polk County Sheriff's Deputies closed off access to the company, which is in Osceola, Wis., located about 40 miles northeast of the Twin Cities.
NeuroScience says in a statement released Thursday by its attorney that it believes the search warrant is related to prior misconduct by a former employee involving Medicare billing procedures.
The company says it has sued the employee for fraud and theft and litigation is still underway.
The statement says it is fully cooperating with authorities.
FBI spokesman Leonard Peace declined to provide details, other than saying a search warrant was executed Wednesday in Osceola.
Polk County Sheriff Peter Johnson says his deputies conducted traffic control while the FBI executed the warrant at NeuroScience.
The company specializes in neurologic, immune and hormone testing.
