DeLaSalle raced out to an 18-3 lead Wednesday in the Boys' State Basketball Tournament Class 3A Quarterfinals and never looked back, routing St. Paul Central 81-48 at Williams Arena. Sacar Anim and Reid Travis led the Islanders with 21 and 20 points, respectively, as DeLaSalle tries to win its third straight championship.
DeLaSalle (24-3) made two-thirds of its shots from the field in the first half to lead 38-17, and shot 73.9 percent from the floor in the second half.
Rayeon Williams led St. Paul Central with 11 points and three steals.
Orono made a series of clutch free throws down the stretch Wednesday to hold off Marshall 77-72 in the next game at Williams Arena.
After making three free throws in the first half, Orono made 20 of 23 free throws in the second half, including 10 in the game's final 72 seconds. Marshall went 6 for 6 in that same stretch, but was unable to overcome a six-point deficit in the final minutes.
Cole Hennings led Orono with 23 points, including three 3-pointers. Sam Sustacek added 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Riley Sharbono finished with 22 points to lead Marshall.
Later in the afternoon, Austin beat Alexandria 61-50 on the other side of the bracket. Zach Wessels scored 23 points for Austin to lead all scorers. The Packers will face Holy Family on Thursday in the semifinals at Target Center.
