Boys Hoops: Shakopee Beats Osseo 54-51

Evan Hagen hit a jumper with 42 seconds left to lead Shakopee past Osseo in the Class 4A Quarterfinals of the Boys' State Basketball Tournament Wednesday afternoon at Target Center. Hagen finished with 16 points, including two free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

Steffon Mitchell led Shakopee (24-6) with 18 points and seven rebounds. The visiting Sabres held a lead as large as seven points in the second half before Osseo went on a 14-5 run to regain the lead.

The score was tied at 50 with one minute to play. Osseo's Ian Theisen made a pair of free throws to give the Orioles a brief 51-50 lead before Hagen hit his jumper with 42 seconds left.

Osseo missed a three in the final seconds, and Hagen was fouled on the ensuing rebound.

Shakopee advances to play top-seeded Hopkins in the semifinals on Thursday.
