Faribault police are investigating after a frozen body was found Tuesday in an open field in an industrial area.

A worker in the area found the body in the field south of the intersection of 30th Street Northwest and Industrial Drive. Police were called to the area around 1:45 p.m.

Footprints in the snow show the victim more than likely walked to the area where he was discovered, police reported.

The 23-year-old man was positively identified. He worked and lived in the area. His identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma.

It is unknown if the recent extreme cold played a factor in the man's death.

“Our department is actively investigating the case and will work with the medical examiner to learn the actual cause of death, which we hope can bring some sense of closure to the family in this young man’s tragic death,” Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen said.
