The family of a 12-year-old boy who died after being pulled from the swimming pool at St. Louis Park Middle School is grieving and searching for answers.

Abdullahi Charif was found Thursday morning at the bottom of the pool following a class; he was taken to the hospital but died over the weekend. His father, Ali Warsame, says Sunday was a day to say goodbye. "My son, we bury him today," he said.

Asha Ahmed is Abullahi's aunt, and she says the family is still in shock.

"What happened to Abudllahi is still unbelievable to me right now," she said.

Late Sunday, a spokesman for the St. Louis Park Police Department said the investigation into the boy's death is ongoing, and the department hopes to have more information this week.

Abdullahi's father choked back emotion as he described his son.

"He was a very young boy, very handsome," he said, "And I cannot miss him tonight, I cannot miss him tonight, I cannot miss him tonight."

The school district has set up a fund for the family at Citizens Independent Bank. Donations can be dropped off at any Citizens Independent Bank or you may mail donations to:
