Police officers and firefighters from Minneapolis and St. Paul came together for a good cause Saturday night.

They hit the boxing ring at the Second Annual "Unite and Fight" event.

The goal? To raise money for the family of Minneapolis Police Officer Carlos Baires Escobar. He received a kidney transplant in January. The donor is 20-year-old Sebastian Rivera of Rogers. The pair met on Facebook.

"For me it's kind of hard because the face of police officers is that you're helping people, you're not asking them to help you because it kind of contradicts what the role is," Escobar said. "So I kind of had to swallow my pride a little bit."

Last year, $20,000 was raised for the family of a St. Paul firefighter in need.

A crowd cheered on police officers and firefighters from the Twin Cities.
