State Rep. Pam Myhra says she is giving up her legislative seat to be the running mate of Republican Marty Seifert because she sees him as a strong conservative who can win the governor's race.
Seifert named Myrha as his lieutenant governor candidate Thursday. She's a two-term lawmaker from Burnsville who went into politics after educating her three children at home from kindergarten through high school.
Myrha won't run for House re-election. Seifert is among a crowded field of Republicans hoping to challenge Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, and the race won't likely sort itself out until August's primary.
Dayton's running mate is Tina Smith, his former top aide. Seifert, of Marshall, is trying to contrast the rural-suburban split of his ticket to the two Democrats from Minneapolis.
