A 19-year-old Menahga man has been booked into the Hubbard County jail after a woman was found strangled to death in her Park Rapids home Monday morning.
Police responded to a call of a dead woman at an apartment just after 7 a.m. Monday. Officers found the body of a woman, later identified as 18-year-old Kiela Knowles, inside the home.
Investigators later identified Harley Leritz as a suspect in her death. According to police, he was the last person seen with Knowles before her death.
Police say Leritz provided information during an interview that led to his arrest.
The medical examiner determined Knowles died of asphyxiation by strangulation due to homicide.
Leritz is expected to be charged this week in Hubbard County District court in Knowles’ death.
