A diplomat who visited the family of a Pakistani exchange student in a coma for three months says they're relieved by a deal that resolves his visa and insurance issues to ensure he can stay in the U.S. and get the long-term care he needs.

Muhammad Shahzaib Bajwa was an exchange student at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He was in a fellow student's car that struck a deer in November. Bajwa went into cardiac arrest, and remains in a coma in fair condition at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Pakistan's consul general from Chicago drove to Duluth to meet Bajwa's family. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi says they were "visibly relieved" when he detailed the solution, which will put Bajwa in a long-term care facility in the Duluth area.
