A memorial will be held Monday night for a woman who died after being hit by a truck near uptown.

Twenty-five-year-old Caitlan Barton of Savage succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, Feb. 13, police say.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, Barton was crossing the street with the light at Market Boulevard and West Lake Street last week when she was hit by a DHL delivery truck turning right at that intersection. She was then dragged a short distance.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and Barton was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition.

Police say the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, and they don’t believe drugs or alcohol are factors. Organizers are calling to improve safety for pedestrians in that area.

The memorial will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Executive Center parking lot on Excelsior Boulevard.
