For Eden Prairie, a win would mean a second straight appearance at girls’ state hockey tournament. For Edina: a shot to take care of unfinished business.
The two regulars to the “X” met Friday night at Ridder Arena to compete for a chance at a title run. For highlights of the Section 2AA Championship, click on the icon above.
Eden Prairie came into the game ranked No. 3 in the state, according to Let’s Play Hockey. The Eagles 19-8-0 record included three wins over their Lake Conference rival, Edina.
The Hornets, only 2-4 in conference play, finished the season with a 17-7-3 record, good enough to put them in the top ten.
Edina missed the tournament last season. In 2010 and 2011, Edina lost back-to-back championship games.
Last season, Eden Prairie fell short of the state title game, with Hill-Murray sending the Eagles to the third place bracket.
