Duluth officials say a fire at the historic NorShor Theatre is even more reason to properly restore it.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Friday. Fire officials believe it started with a faulty blower motor in the building's heating system. The damage was limited to one room but is estimated at $15,000.

The NorShor Theatre has sat empty since the city bought it in 2010. It was built in 1910 and is the last historic theater in downtown Duluth.

The city is partnering with a developer to renovate the building. The project is expected to cost $22 million.

Chris Eng, executive director of the Duluth Economic Development Authority, says the building has a lot of character and sits in a part of downtown they're working hard to revitalize.
