Authorities ID Woman Hit, Dragged by Commercial Vehicle in Minneapolis

Authorities have identified the woman who was hit and dragged by a commercial truck at Market Boulevard and West Lake Street in Minneapolis on Wednesday evening.

According to a Minneapolis Police report, the woman has been identified as 25-year-old Caitlan Barton of Savage.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, a DHL delivery truck was headed southbound on Market Boulevard when it hit Barton around 6 p.m. She was dragged a short distance.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and Barton was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where she remains in critical condition. Firefighters tell KSTP Barton had a serious head injury after she was hit by the truck.

KSTP called DHL to ask about the driver, whose name has not been released. We've learned the driver is an independent contractor and was hired by North Star Logistics in the Twin Cities.

DHL confirmed the driver is currently on leave.
