An Anoka County Man who prepares taxes for a living is now charged with not paying his own taxes.
Forty-five-year-old accountant Richard Cichocki didn't want to speak with a KSTP crew at his Ramsey office on Monday.
He faces three felony counts, including failure to file a tax return and failure to pay or collect taxes. Cichocki is accused of not paying his own taxes for several years and when he did court documents state it was thousands of dollars short of the correct amount.
In a statement Cichocki's attorney Timothy D. Webb said, "We are disappointed that the Minnesota Department of Revenue has haphazardly filed criminal charges rather than continuing to work with Mr. Cichocki on reaching a civil resolution of these issues."
Cichocki faces up to $30,000 in fines and possible jail time.
