This is the 6th annual "Insurance Fraud Awareness Week" in Minnesota and marks the end of a 9-month period where a group of lawmakers had been studying the issue.

Lawmakers plan to summarize the reforms they believe they can convince the full legislature to pass during the upcoming session.

Senator Vicki Jenson tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS she believes legislation will be passed that curbs insurance fraud.

At the same time, the Insurance Federation of Minnesota is appealing to insiders, or those who know someone engaged in fraud, to come forward and report it to authorities.

Insurance fraud costs us all in the form of inflated premiums.
