Tickets will cost more for the Minnesota State Fair this summer.
Organizers say the increase is needed in order to keep up with the rising operational costs to put on the annual fair.
This is the first time gate ticket prices have increased since 2011. The last time advance tickets prices went up was in 2009. Children under age 5 will still continue to get in for free.
Adults, ages 13-64, will pay $13; those 65 and over and kids ages 5-12 will be admitted for $11. Pre-fair discount admission tickets will be $10.
Fair officials say they will continue promotional days with reduced admission prices, including Thrifty Thursday, Seniors and Kids Days, Military Appreciation Day, and Read & Ride Day.
The 2014 fair runs from Aug. 21 to Labor Day, Sept. 1.
