The decision to go to Sochi, Russia is an investment in time and money.

Multiple flights, expensive accommodations, and security concerns are all issues families with loved ones competing in the Olympics are weighing.

The Nordgren family of Marine on St. Croix, whose son Leif is competing, has decided to stay home in Minnesota and watch on television and via a special web-based application.

Conversely, the Herman family of Bloomington, whose daughter Keri is competing, is packing up and leaving for Sochi Wednesday morning.
