The driver of an SUV that collided head-on with an ambulance earlier this month has died, according to family members.

According to a CaringBridge site, 51-year-old Marilyn Paumen died at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday from injuries suffered in the Jan. 18 accident near Buffalo.

The Allina ambulance was headed west on County Road 35 when it collided with Paumen’s SUV. Three people inside the ambulance, including a patient, were injured.

Forty-three-year-old Tim Daly, who is a longtime volunteer firefighter and Allina Health EMT, was driving the ambulance. He and 30-year-old paramedic Brian Nagel of Greenwood were injured, and the patient in the ambulance had very minor injuries from the crash, according to authorities.

According to family members, Paumen died "peacefully, with all us kids at her side."

The CaringBridge site says Paumen suffered injuries that included a tear of her brachiocephalic artery, a clot in her brain, brain trauma from the impact, and a severe stroke caused by the blood clot.
