Authorities ID Man Injured in Brooklyn Park Officer-Involved Shooting

A 22-year-old man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting in a Brooklyn Park parking lot Saturday night, has been arrested for felony assault.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Shoua Yang was injured in the shooting, and was taken to the hospital.

Around 11 p.m. officers with the Brooklyn Park Police Department were dispatched to a large fight at Sisaket Oriental Market, located at 7324 Lakeland Avenue North, near 73rd Avenue and Bottineau Boulevard. After officers arrived on the scene, shots were fired, authorities said.

Police said Yang was transported to a hospital after he was shot by a Brooklyn Park officer. Details on his condition have not been released.
It's unclear whether the officers were also fired upon, or whether the officer fired more than one shot. The incident is still in the early stages of investigation.
