Authorities have identified the 34-year-old man who died after being hit by a vehicle in western Wisconsin early Sunday morning, and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Chad M. Hansen, of Milltown, was hit by an SUV while walking down a Polk County road at 2:12 a.m. on Sunday, authorities said.
Hansen was the Deputy Chief of the Millberg Volunteer Fire Department. According to the department's website, he had worked his way up the chain of command since 1997 and was recently appointed to the deputy chief position.
Authorities said 32-year-old Jeanne S. Fisher, of Frederick, Wis., was driving a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus southbound on State Highway 35 near Luck Township when she hit Hansen, who was walking southbound in the traveled portion of the road.
