5 Eyewitness News announced Sunday that Ken Barlow has been promoted to mornings on 5 Eyewitness News and 45 TV starting Monday, Jan. 27.
5 Eyewitness News Mornings airs weekdays from 4:30-7 a.m. on KSTP 5 Eyewitness News and from 7-9 a.m. on KSTC 45 TV. Barlow has also been promoted to Morning Chief Meteorologist for 5 Eyewitness News and 45 TV.
"At KSTP 5 Eyewitness News, we are committed to weather. Our viewers have consistently told us weather is their #1 reason to watch," Rob Hubbard, President of Hubbard Broadcasting, said. "Ken’s experience forecasting Minnesota weather combined with the tremendous talent of Dave Dahl gives us the dominant weather team in the market."
News Director Lindsay Radford said, "Minnesota weather is tricky because it changes throughout the day so by moving Ken to mornings, we’ve got our viewers covered throughout the day with our most experienced meteorologists."
"I know how important weather is to our viewers and I’m looking forward to helping them prepare for their day," Barlow said. "On the personal side, I’m excited, after 20 years in TV, I get to have dinner with my family."
Barlow has been nationally recognized for excellence in his field. He’s a multiple Emmy Award winner for his work in Minnesota and Boston. Additionally, Ken served as an adjunct professor of broadcast meteorology at St. Cloud State University.
Recently, Barlow has become a mental health advocate speaking to groups about his diagnosis with bipolar disorder. In the past, Barlow has served on the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Club of Minneapolis.
Barlow, his wife Theresa, and his family enjoy getting outdoors no matter the weather.
