David Hall showed us where one of two packages delivered to him were stolen from his North Minneapolis home. He lives on Logan Avenue.
"They took it around side the house, opened it somewhere between here and there and dropped the box in the neighborhood," he said.
Hall says he doesn’t know how many packages he hasn’t gotten because somebody stole them from his steps.
"Thankfully nobody has broken into my house but still they've taken something of mine," he said.
Hall isn't alone in having items stolen from his steps. Another package was taken from a home Thursday.
The suspect was seen on video walking up the steps and looking around. He eventually picks up the package and walks down the sidewalk going East. The video given to KSTP is from a guy named Frank Heukendorf. He lives on Xerxes Avenue North.
He got fed up with losing his packages, so the next time around he politely put a smelly present in his bait box. Let's just say it is the real-life version of Mister Hankey, the character from the animated show, "South Park."
But there are others, like Tommy Reyes who lives on James Avenue. A package of his was stolen from his back porch. He was waiting on a Christmas present from California. He was surprised.
"Ah that's a crock you don't really think it's gong to happen and you are like damn it happened," Reyes said.
Hall says, he thought the same thing but those days are over. So now, he has delivery services drop items off at his office instead of his home.
Since New Year's Eve, there have been 40 thefts in the Fourth Precinct alone.
Here's a bit of advice for anyone expecting a package to be delivered to your house. If you are not going to be there reschedule the drop off, or have items dropped off at a trusty neighbor’s house.
