The Cedar Cultural Center is holding a benefit concert for victims of an apartment fire and explosion that killed three people near downtown Minneapolis.

The goal of Friday night's concert is to raise money for victims and their family members. Organizers say it's also a chance to bring the community together.

In addition to killing three people, the Jan. 1 fire left several others injured, destroyed a grocery store and displaced tenants.

Friday's concert will feature The Brass Messengers, Spider John Koerner, Martin Devaney, Phil Heywood, Jon Rodine, Southside Desire, Augsburg JIVE and DJ Go Getta.

It's hosted by The Cedar, Augsburg College, and KFAI Radio.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Money raised will go to the Cedar-Riverside Fire Disaster Relief Fund established by Pillsbury United Communities and the Brian Coyle Center. Community members can donate through the Pillsbury United Communities and the Brian Coyle Center by calling 612-787-3730.

The Brian Coyle Center, located at 420 15th Ave. S. in Minneapolis, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Checks should be made out to "Pillsbury United Communities," or financial contributions can be made online at puc-mn.org/donate. Note "Cedar-Riverside Fire Disaster Relief" on all donations.
