A fire near Perham wiped out a warehouse that was the size of a football field Tuesday.

The fire started around 4:30 p.m. at R.D. Offutt Co. potato warehouse, according to fire officials.

Officials say some nearby hydrants were frozen when firefighters arrived. Making matters worse, at the same time, there was a water main break in the town, located in Otter Tail County.

"When I saw all red flames inside there ... it's just terrible," onlookers Don and Delores Bernauer told ABC news as they anxiously watched as the fire roared amid a sea of smoke. "Makes me nervous, makes me very nervous."

The couple said three of their grandchildren are volunteer fireman who helped fight the fire.

Seventeen fire departments responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported.
