Police are asking for help identifying a man who sexually assaulted a woman walking to a bus stop in Minneapolis over the weekend.
According to police, a man came up behind the woman in the area of Chicago and Franklin avenues, told her he had a weapon, and to keep walking. He then sexually assaulted her.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Anyone with information about the assault should call the sex crimes unit at 612-673-3081.
Police also gave tips on what you can do to stay safe from sexual attacks:
Be cautious about your surroundings and be aware of strangers loitering around you.
If you are out after dark, plan and use the safest and most direct route to your destination. Whenever possible, travel in groups or pairs and be wary of isolated spots.
Never accept rides from strangers. If someone in a vehicle tries to get your attention, get away from the vehicle and go to the nearest safe location.
If you think someone is following you, switch directions and walk to a place where there are other people and immediately call 9-1-1.
If you are confronted by a potential attacker:
Call attention to yourself by yelling, using loud verbal commands or other noise to attract attention to the attacker.
Keep distance between yourself and a potential attacker by walking and/or running away. Try to place obstacles between yourself and your attacker.
Stall for time as much as possible, while you assess your options.
Police also said to try to report an assault as soon as possible.
