Time is running out as both sides await a decision from the Minnesota Supreme Court on a lawsuit challenging the state's ability to sell bonds to pay its share of the new Vikings stadium.

Michele Kelm-Helgen is the chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, she says some of the money to be raised by the bonds has already been spent, "There are companies from all over the state of Minnesota that have done work already, and they are expecting to be paid."

Kelm-Helgen says delays beyond Jan. 23 could have an impact on the stadium project, as well as the Wells Fargo/Ryan development tied to the stadium deal.

Larry Jacobs from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute points to the tight schedule for the completion of the project, and the possible impact of a financial breakdown early in the construction, "If the Vikings' schedule is thrown off, costs are likely to go up, there's a real chance we could miss the 2016 deadline and there would be a lot of un-happy campers around Minnesota."

The State Supreme Court has had the case for about a week and there is no telling how long it will take to render a decision.
