The Polk County Sheriff's Department is asking for help identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that killed two people Saturday night.

Authorities believe the vehicle collided with two men on County Highway E in the Round Lake Native American Community around 6:30 p.m.

The victims were identified as 41-year-old Richard Cobenais Jr., of Rural Luck, Wis., and 28-year-old Benjamin Juarez, of Frederic, Wis. It is believed the men were involved in a physical altercation at a nearby residence before being hit by the vehicle.

Authorities believe the vehicle was simply passing through the Round Lake Community when it struck the two men.

Authorities are searching for a dark-colored pick-up truck that may have damage to the front and two auxiliary amber warning lights mounted to the top of the cab. The make of the vehicle is thought to be a Ford, possibly a model F150. Authorities believe it's an extended cab model.

There were at least two people inside the vehicle; both are believed to be men and both were wearing baseball caps, officials said. The vehicle stopped briefly before heading southbound on County Road E.

Witnesses noticed a blue plastic barrel in the box of the pick-up.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Polk County Sheriff's Department at 715-485-8300.

The incident is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff's Department and the St. Croix Tribal Police.
