Governor Mark Dayton told KSTP last month that "as long as I'm breathing, I'm running" for re-election in 2014.
As this key election year gets underway, it's appearing more and more like it's going to be a tough battle. In fact, he's not even certain who his running mate will be.
Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon will meet with the governor Monday to inform him whether she plans to run again. The relationship between the two has been strained and it appears likely Prettner Solon will not run.
As it turns out, that might be the least of the governor's problems this election year. He's also facing controversy regarding construction of an expensive new Senate office building and MNsure's continued problems.
The governor addressed those issues and more at a news conference on Friday.
