A woman’s head basketball and cross country coach at Crown College is charged with sexual conduct after he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old-girl he met on an online dating site.
According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 22 the girl’s father called South Lake Minnetonka police to report his daughter was having a sexual relationship with a 30-year-old man. The man was later identified as Ryan Chmielewski of St. Bonifacious.
Investigators learned the sexual activity took place inside the family’s home in the city of Shorewood. The two met on the dating website OKCupid.com and then met in person around the week of Dec. 10, the complaint states. They also met on Dec. 18 and 20. On these dates the victim said Chmielewski "kissed her all over her body" and touched her over and under her clothing.
On Jan. 6, detectives posed as the victim and invited Chmielewski to the girl’s home. He agreed and was arrested on arrival.
Chmielewski admitted to meeting the girl online and then in person several times. He also admitted to the sexual contact, according to the complaint.
Chmielewski is being held on $100,000 bail.
Crown College fired Chmielewski.
